AngryGinge Breaks Silence on Life After Jungle Win — Fame, Sudden Attention and the One Thing That Still Grounds Him

Winning I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! changed AngryGinge’s life overnight — but not in the ways people might expect.

The 24-year-old YouTube star, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, returned to the UK crowned King of the Jungle, greeted by adoration, headlines, and a level of attention he admits he was never prepared for.

Behind the jokes and viral clips, however, Ginge says the reality has been overwhelming.

“It’s mad,” he admitted shortly after landing back in Manchester. “I don’t think it’s hit me properly yet.”

Fame Came Fast — And Loud

In the days following his win, AngryGinge became one of the most talked-about figures online. Clips of his jungle journey flooded TikTok, fan pages appeared overnight, and a new narrative quickly took hold: the once self-deprecating creator was suddenly being labelled a heartthrob.

The attention hasn’t just been directed at him.

Ginge revealed that his mum, Michelle, has been receiving messages from strangers telling her how attractive her son looks post-jungle — a situation he finds both funny and surreal.

“She keeps showing me her phone,” he laughed. “I’m like, please stop.”

What Viewers Didn’t See

While fans watched his confidence grow on screen, Ginge says the early days in camp were far tougher than they appeared.

Within hours of arriving, he privately questioned whether he could cope with the isolation, the pressure, and the emotional weight of being completely cut off from home.

“There was a moment where I thought, ‘I’m not built for this,’” he admitted. “I sat there on my own and genuinely thought about leaving.”

What viewers also didn’t see was the emotional baggage he carried into the jungle.

Just days before flying to Australia, Ginge’s relationship ended abruptly via text message — while he was live-streaming. The breakup left him shaken and vulnerable at the exact moment he was about to face the toughest challenge of his life.

Why He Stayed

Despite the doubts, he didn’t quit.

And the reason, he says, had nothing to do with fame, money, or winning.

It was his mum.

Raised on a council estate in Manchester, Ginge has spoken openly about growing up with very little. His mum worked multiple jobs to keep the family afloat, and when he was 18, she was forced to sell their home and downsize. To help ease the pressure, Ginge moved in with his nana temporarily.

Those memories stayed with him in the jungle.

“Every time I felt like I couldn’t do it, I thought about her,” he said. “She’s grafted her whole life. The least I could do was stick it out.”

The Win That Meant More Than a Crown

When AngryGinge was announced as the winner, his reaction was raw and unfiltered — a mixture of disbelief, relief, and emotion.

But the moment that mattered most came later, when he finally spoke to his mum.

“She told me she was already proud,” he said quietly. “Before the jungle. Before any of this.”

That conversation, he says, meant more than the title, the applause, or the sudden fame.

What Comes Next

As opportunities pour in, Ginge insists he’s determined not to lose sight of who he is or where he came from.

“I don’t want this to change me,” he said. “I just want to keep doing what I’ve always done — just better.”

For now, he’s taking things one step at a time, surrounded by family, close friends, and the same humour that carried him through the jungle.

Because while the crown may have changed how the public sees AngryGinge, the thing that keeps him grounded hasn’t changed at all.

It’s still his mum.
